Abstract

650,128. Injectors. VICKERS - ARMSTRONGS, Ltd. June 9, 1948, No. 15578. [Class 71] In a dust discharge system in which a steam injector 11, Fig. 1, in a discharge duct 12 from an accumulator 10 exerts sufficient suction to cause dust to pass from the accumulator to a discharge point, a separate quenching device 13 in the duct 12 comprises a body 14 having a bore in alignment with the duct 12 and through which the dust passes, means e.g., an inlet 18 whereby water is supplied to the body 14 and means e.g., an annular nozzle 21, Fig. 2, within the body to cause the water to be delivered as a spray on to the dust traversing the duct 12. In operation incoming steam controlled by a valve 24 heats a chamber 23 to evaporate any moisture seeping back from the ejector 11 before entering said ejector.
