648,788. Casting-machines. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. Jan. 26, 1948, No. 2350. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1947. Drawings to Specification. [Class 83 (i)] An electrically-controlled die-casting machine has its electric control system arranged so that, instead of the normal continuous automatic production of castings, another sequence can be introduced whereby at least some control is left to the operator. In the example described the die is opened and closed and the metal-injecting plunger advanced and returned by solenoids and the pauses between these movements is determined by two time-switches of known type. A press-button switch is provided for starting the sequence and a two-way switch, which in one position gives continuous operation and in the other stops the machine after one casting has been ejected. A multi-pole switch is provided which, when thrown over, stops the sequence after each movement of the machine, the sequence being restarted by press-buttons. A second multiple switch is provided such that, when this also is thrown over, the various movements of the machine may be effected in any order desired by pressing the appropriate switch. The machine is also provided with a protective cover connected to a switch to stop the machine if the cover is raised. Another switch stops the machine if the ejector fails to remove the casting. A hand-operated switch is also provided to bring the machine to rest with the dies open and the plunger in withdrawn position.
