Abstract

648,362. Hinges. ELECTRO-HYDRAULICS, Ltd., and PERDUE, J. March 4,1948, No. 6816. [Class 65(ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Means for locking the parts 1 and 2 of a foldable strut in alignment comprise a locking member 9 pivoted at 14 to the part 1 and biassed by a spring 8 into the locking position when it is in compression to resist the breaking of the joint between the said parts, an abutment 6 on the part 2, and motor operated means which actuate the locking member out of engagement with the abutment. The locking member is radiused about the pivot 14 and is disengaged by the axial movement of a cylinder 13 containing a piston to provide a lost motion connection in said operating means, the piston rod 11 being pivoted at 10 to the locking member.
