Selsyn system for inching. In the " Auto " position of switch s both the stator windings 1, 2, 3 and the commutator brushes 5, 6, 7 are fed from a 3-phase supply for normal running. In the "Hand" position, the stator is connected to the stator of a hand driven Selsyn 11, whilst the rotor is fed through slip-rings and brushes 9, 10 from the single-phase supply, a transformer T and resistance R being inserted to limit the current.
