Abstract

647,261. Moulding artificial teeth. PILE, R. J. Aug. 26, 1947, No. 23539. [Class 87 (ii)] Teeth are formed from material such as methyl methacrylate by forming a plaster mould 4 having tooth cavities 7 from a flexible pattern, see Fig. 2 (not shown), pouring into the cavities first material to form the tooth facing and then dentine-forming material, and then moulding the material under heat and pressure. The mould is removed by breaking it. Grooves may be formed in the facing- material, before adding the dentine-forming material, to simulate natural faults. A pressure plate, used to apply the pressure to the material in the cavities, may have pins to form a recess in the back of each tooth.
