Abstract

647,182. Drying paper. FRANKEL, T. H., and BRIDGEND PAPER MILLS, Ltd. Aug. 10, 1948, No. 21085. [Class 96] Paper, e.g. absorbent tissue paper, from a dryer section A may be moistened by rollers B and is finally dried at a section C with no dryer felts, the various rolls of the section C being run at speeds such as to allow a cockle effect to develop in the dried web which is reeled at E. Rollers D take up slack and prevent reeling tension being communicated to the web in the section C. Glycerine &c. may be used to enhance the cockle effect, and medicaments may be added. Hot air may be blown on to the web at the section C. The product may be used for writing, printing, toilet, or as manifold paper.
