Abstract
646,973. Band clips. TRESIDDER, T. B., and MOORE, A. E. May 19, 1948, Nos. 13534 and 13535. Convention dates, May 27, 1947 and July 1, 1947. [Class 44] The ends of a flexible band B, Fig. 3, which constitutes a hose clip fitting, are clamped by a screw 14 in a cage 13 which is formed, by bending, from a metal strip. The screw 14 which is engaged in a tapped hole 28 of the cage 13 and has a wing nut 15 on its upper end. passes through a hole in the embossed top plate 16 of a housing 11. On rotation of the wing nut 16 the housing 11 is forced downwardly until pins 26, Fig. 1, on V-shaped sides 20 of the housing reach the bottom of narrow slots 25 formed in upstanding sides 23 of a base 12. Further rotation of nut 16 causes the cage to be forced upwardly to tighten the band B. The sides 18 of housing 19 are prevented from bending outwards under the strain by lugs 24 formed on the sides 23 of the base 12, cutaway portions 21 being provided on the sides 18. The screw 14 is flattened at 30 and in a modification a bridge is provided to link the screw 14 and nut 15 so that rotation of the latter screws up the former. Alternatively a loop of wire may pass through a hole in the screw 14 to engage the wings of nut 15. In a further modification the narrow slots 25 are provided in the sides 20 of the housing 11, projecting tongues being formed on the extremities of the sides 23 to engage therein. Also the inner edges of cage 13 may be downwardly curved.
