Abstract
526,179. Driving belts. HAGINO, S. March 9, 1939, No. 7681. Convention date, March 10, 1938. [Class 80 (i)] Blocks 1 of hard elastic material having frictional resistance in metal grooves, e.g., leather, rubber and the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Bakelite, " are each formed with transverse grooves 15 having corrugations 4, adapted to receive flexible ropelike members 5 which are crimped into the corrugations by a similarly corrugated clamping element 7.. This has a stud 6 threaded at 8 to receive a nut 9. Jointing of the belt may be effected by a fastening plate 10, Figs. 2A and 3, the ends 11 of which are adapted to be gripped under the elements 7. These elements may be extended laterally to secure the flexible elements to form a multiple belt. In lieu of the plate 10, the element 7 may serve as a fastener, Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown). In Fig. 10, the flexible members 5 are secured in parallel relationship by thin metal bonding clips 14. In Fig. 12, the flexible members 5 are secured between oppositely disposed V-blocks 1, 1<1> drawn together by the screwed stud 6 and nut 9. The invention is applicable to flat as well as to V-belts.
