646,858. Tongs. WOLFENDEN, J. R. March 18, 1948, No. 8113. Convention date, March 25, 1947. [Class 61(ii)] [Also in Group I] Tongs, for weed-extraction or general purposes, comprise a pair of arms 6, 7 pivoted together at their rear ends 8 and being formed at their free ends into pointed jaws 9, 10 of openwork construction, so that soil and other material may pass through them. The arms, which are of pressed metal, have inter-engaging skirtings 13 to reduce side-play. A spring presses the arms apart, the outward movement being limited by the cut-away rear edges 14 of the skirtings. Guards 11 are welded to the arms.
