644,880. Filing wrappers ; tabs; indexing. CHENOUARD, J. Aug. 26, 1947, Nos. 23504 and 23505. Convention dates, Sept. 9, 1944. [Classes 16 and 146 (i)] A filing wrapper for vertical filing comprises a sheet of cardboard or other suitable material folded to produce two sides 2, 3 rectangular in shape with the edge defined by the fold 1 being longer than the end edge, the two sides 2, 3 being substantially vertical and the fold 1 horizontal when in the filing position, and a flap 5 extending laterally from one end edge of one side, so as to be folded over the outer surface of the other side, there being no flap at the other end of the file. In a simple form, the side 2 is longer than the side 3 and is creased to provide the flap 5 and a reference label is secured at varying heights on the outside of the creased edge. As shown in Fig. 6, the side 2 has an extension folded into a plurality of superposed folds 8 between which a separate flap 5 is secured as by staples, such folds 8 forming a stiffening arrangement. Tabs: Indexing. Tabs 9 are secured between the folds 8 so as to project outwards, the tabs 9 preferably being triangular as shown and secured at varying heights so as to form an index for successive wrappers.
