Abstract

2 - Mercapto-4-keto-5-methyl-5-ethyloxazolidine is prepared by treating a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone, potassium cyanide and potassium thiocyanate with HCl. 2 - Mercapto - 4 - keto - 5 : 5 - dimethyldihydro-1 : 3-thiazine is prepared by reacting ammonium dithiocarbamate with b -chlorotrimethylacetic acid. 2-Mercapto-4-keto-5 : 5-dimethylthiazolidine is similarly prepared using a -bromo-isobutyric acid. Dimethylpseudoselenohydantoin is prepared by reacting a -bromoisobutyric acid with selenourea. 2 - Mercapto - 4 - keto - 5 : 5 - dimethylselenazolidine is prepared by heating dimethylpseudoselenohydantoin with carbon disulphide under pressure.
