Abstract

644,560. Electrolytic condensers. SPORING, P. A., BENTLEY, N. H., and TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO., Ltd. July 26, 1949, No. 19634. [Class 37] An electrode for an electrolytic condenser comprises a metal base (e.g. aluminium foil), to the surface of which is applied, e.g. by spraying, a layer of an electrolytic film-forming metal, e.g. aluminium, the area of the layer being irregular and larger than that of the surface it covers. The surface is initially roughened or etched, either by sand-blasting or scratching, or by passing the foil through a hot solution of cupric chloride and hydrochloric acid.
