Abstract

643,883. Ink-ribbon mechanism. TOTALISATORS, Ltd. (Automatic Totalisators, Ltd.). Oct. 16, 1947, No. 27718. [Class 100 (iv)] An ink-ribbon mechanism for a race totalizator ticket-issuing machine has reversing mechanism comprising cam plates 32, 33 linked together so that an intermittent unidirectional drive mechanism is brought into actuating contact with one ribbon-reel rotating-mechanism and held away from the other reel mechanism and vice versa by means of two humped portions 37, 39 and 38, 40 respectively on the cam plates 32, 33 which are actuated to reverse the drive when the ribbon tensions due to the exhaustion of the ribbon on one reel, the cams and drive being held in either position by a spring loaded device 41, 43, 44. The reels 10, 11 are driven in turn by the ratchet and pawl mechanisms 14, 16 and 15, 17 respectively, back rotation being prevented by detent pawls 18, 19. The driving pawls 16 and 17 are spring biassed towards their ratchet wheels and are mounted on a V-shaped bracket pivotally suspended between the two reels, the bracket being connected by a link to the driving source.
