Abstract

643,523. Changing waveform. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1947, No. 33287. [Class 38 (ii)] An electric pulse generator for producing alternate positive and negative pulses when an alternating voltage wave, comprising a fundamental and an even harmonic, is applied to a non-linear inductance has the voltage wave applied to the inductance through a phaseshifting device so that the phase of the even harmonic is shifted relatively to the fundamental in such a manner that the even harmonic has zero amplitude at the instants that the pulses are generated. The phase-shifting de. vice comprises two amplifying valves 13, 14 in push-pull relationship between the input and output transformers 15, 16 respectively. The cathodes have conventional biassing circuits 17, 18 and the grids are connected to earth, i.e. the negative H.T. terminal 21, by a common circuit 19, 20. Two similar resonant circuits 25, 26 are connected between the circuits 17, 18 and the earth terminal 21, one or both of the elements L, C being adjustable, the adjustment being such for each circuit that the output pulses from the pulse generator are equally spaced.
