Abstract

643,410. Automatic antenna control systems. SPERRY CORPORATION. Feb. 28, 1948, No. 6239. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1946. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In a craft directional radio apparatus, a directional antenna is stabilized against azimuth movements of the craft by a gyroscope and the antenna output is adapted to maintain the antenna in the null output position. As shown, the outputs of the loop 10 which is mounted on gyroscope 3 and the non-directional antenna 11 are applied to the amplifier 14 which energizes the torque motor 9. The latter precesses the gyroscope, and therefore to antenna 10, above the axis 7 as 10 deviates from the null setting. In a further modification (not shown) the gyro and antenna are connected by an electric servo-link.
