Abstract
643,366. Switching systems ; condenser arrangements. WAGSTAFF, P. A. Oct. 22, 1947, No. 28231. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XL (c)] A system for effecting timed and sequential energization of a number of electric circuits, such as the circuits containing the operating coils 12-16 of contactors controlling lamps or electrically-operable mechanisms, comprises a two-bank stepping switch. having a stepping magnet 9a energized by the intermittent discharge of a condenser 1 charged over resistors 2-6 of differing values and which are sequentially connected in the charging circuit as one wiper 8a of the stepping switch moves over contact bank 10. The other wiper 8b in moving over contact bank 11 sequentially completes an energizing circuit for each contactor coil. Discharge of the condenser is effected by a gasdischarge tube 7 which, in series with the stepping magnet, shunts the condenser. A potentiometer 21 permits control of the voltage at which tube 7 fires. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 604,390 and 636,113.
