Abstract
660,123. Automatic voltage control systems. SOC. ELECTRO-MECANIQUE DE L'AVEYRON. Feb. 25, 1948 [Feb. 25, 1947; Dec. 8, 1947], Nos. 5615/48 and 5616/48. Class 38 (iv). A vibrating contact voltage regulator has an iron-hydrogen resistor connected across the contacts. There may be one such resistor, Fig. 1 (not shown), or two, 261, 26<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 2, may be connected in parallel together with a linear resistor 25. Relays 27<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>2</SP> connect all resistors in parallel when the generator field current is high, and switch them out progressively as the current falls. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), three iron hydrogen resistors are successively connected in parallel with a fourth by means of a single coil responsive to field current and controlling three relay armatures. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also discloses, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), a tapped resistor 5 connected across the contacts 1, the value of the resistor being increased by a rolling contact 8 as the points open. It further discloses a number of resistors 261, 262, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), which are successively switched in parallel with the contacts 22 by an armature 29 actuated by a coil 27 in accordance with the field current. In a further modification, Fig. 10 (Cancelled, not shown), the resistors are switched by a drum-type controller. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
