Abstract

871,696. Distribution systems for street lighting. GOWLAND, D. J. Oct. 20, 1959 [July 23, 1958], No. 23599/58. Class 38 (4). An electric control system for street lighting or like purposes includes a number of separate distribution systems, say 2, 4, each of which includes one conductor 11 or 16 for connection to the street lighting, at least one conductor for supplying electric power, as shown 8, 9, 10 or 13, 14, 15 forming three-phase systems and one conductor 12 or 17 for a common neutral, the lighting conductor 11 being energized from a power conductor 10 by closing a master switch 18 which causes energization of the winding 6 of a relay to close its contact 7 over which the lighting conductor 16 is energized from its associated power conductor 15. Further distribution systems may be added by providing further relays, energization of all the lighting conductors being controlled by the master switch 18 which may be controlled manually or by a time switch or a photo-electric cell device.
