[Class 18] A paper board carrier formed from a single blank has bottom and wall portions arranged to support two rows of bottles of predetermined girth and height and a handle 26-27 with a handhold portion disposed between the rows so that the bottles co-operate with the user's hand to limit lateral deflection of the handle while the package is being carried. The sides of the carrier are of stepped formation, as shown in Fig. 3, with their higt portions disposed at opposite ends and each side of the container is partitioned by strips 28, 29 with siffening embossments 30 which also have a cushioning effect or the bottles. The location of the top of the handle below the tops of the bottles intended to be carried allows stacking of fully loadec carriers without distortion of the handle and the oppositely disposec stepped sides provide, through the high wall portions, protection for the bottles in the low wall portions of carriers packed side by side, as in Fig. 9 (not shown). The carrier is made from a blank shown heavily outlined in Fig. 1 and scored at a, b, c and d to form side panels 10, 11 and end panels 12, 13, 14 from which depend bottom flaps 16, 15 and 22, 19, 20 respectively. Slits 23, 24, 25 extending completely through the blank define the lower margins of handle panels 26, 27, each of which is formed with finger holes 31, while score lines at j, k, m, together with slits 23, 24, 25, define partition strips 28, 29 which connect the side panels with the handle panels. The upper portion of end panel 13 is slit at 32 and creased at n to form a glue tab 33. The carrier is made up by applying adhesive to the stippled portion of the handle, end and bottom panels 27, 13, 19 respectively, folding the blank on the crease line a so that the handle panels 26, 27 are superimposed and finally folding the sections 13, 19 along the line c on to the upwardly presented surfaces of panels 26, 14, 20. The holder is set up from its collapsed condition by compressing the marginal portions a, c, so that the panels and partition strips move apart on the crease lines a, b, c, d, j, k, m and n, and then folding in the bottom flaps 19, 20, 22 and 15, 16, the latter being secured by a tongue and slot connection 18, 17. In a modified construction, Fig. 6, the blank is cut with side bottom flaps 40, 41 having tongues 44, 45 and slots 46 and with end bottom flaps 42, 43 that are creased diagonally at p and q to define tabs 48, 47. The carrier is made up by folding the bottom flaps from their broken line positions on to their conjoined wall panels, applying adhesive to the stippled areas and then folding the blank about crease lines c and a so that the tabs 47, 48 become attached to the bottom flaps 41, 40, the handle flaps become secured together and the end wall 14 is secured to end panel 13<1>. When pressure is then applied to the edges a, c the carrier opens, the' bottom flaps swing downwardly into place and the tongues 44, 45 and slots 46 become interlocked as shown in Fig. 8.
