Abstract

A composition of increased tensile strength comprises a substantially oil-free predominantly straight chain paraffin wax containing 50-200 carbon atoms per molecule and capable of forming a hard macro-crystalline structure and 0.5-20 per cent by weight of a straight chain polyalkylene, e.g. polyethylene, having an average molecular weight of at least 6000. The waxes specified have a melting point between 86 DEG and 89 DEG C. and a ring value of zero. The compositions may be prepared and used as described in Specification 642,442. Powdered graphite, dyes, pigments and corrosion inhibitors, e.g. dicyclohexylamine nitrite, may be added.
