[Classes 103(ii), 103(iv) and 108(i)] In a vehicle body a preassembled side wall S, Fig. 4, and a preassembled roof R each have a marginal channel 7, 24 which abut one another, the roof or wall having an overlapping longitudinal panel 9 by which the two parts are secured together. An internal longitudinal panel 68 is attached to the inside flanges of the abutting channels and a luggage panel 82 supported on brackets 80 provides additional strength to the joint. The panel 68 terminates about the location 69, Fig. 9, spaced from the door end of the vehicle and is carried forward by three plates 71, 70, 72 and an angle sectioned strip 73, Fig. 9 and Fig. 7, (not shown), of which 72 terminates at the door opening and 70, 73 are of reduced depth over the door opening, a downward end extension 77 of the plate 70 forming a lug for securing the inner top end of the end door post P, whilst a similar lug cut out from the outer panel 9 forms means for securing the other side of the post. The ends of the roof are stiffened by a transverse roof plate 10, Fig. 9, extending across the roof carlines and side plates 11, the longitudinal angle 73, transverse beam 63, and channel above the vestibule partition 78 forming supports for longitudinal shear panels as described in Specifications 641,782 and 641,783. The side wall comprises vertical posts 21 between the window openings and a series of vertical end posts 22 acting as shear panels tied together by longitudinal chord members as described in Specification 641,782, the' overlapping longitudinal roof panel 9 overlapping the sides down to the longitudinal chord member 35 located above the window openings, the chord being stiffened by inner and outer longitudinal members 42, 15. Corrugated roof plates 17 extend over the panel 9 and the carlines 1 may be braced by transverse bars 17<SP>1</SP> which carry the ceiling.
