[Class 103(iv)] A railway vehicle body includes a side wall structure and a roof structure connected therewith in final assembly, the roof structure having longitudinally spaced carlines, a side rail connecting the ends of the carlines, a longitudinally c o r r u - gated roof sheathing covering and connected with said carlines and rail and provided with marginal portions extending downwardly beyond said rail, each comprising a plane web on each side having its upper marginal portions secured to the roof sheathing and its lower marginal portion to a chord structure of the side wall structure. The side walls comprise sheathing 11 spot-welded to profiles 12, reinforced by chord members 13, and posts 10. The roof is constructed from corrugated sheathing 20 connected to carlines 16, the lower extremities of which fit into channel section chord members 17. The posts 10 and the carlines 16 are connected by inner and outer plates 15, 24, of which the plate 24 is also spot-welded to the roof panels 20. The joint between the roof and a side wall is completed by a longitudinally extending continuous reinforcing plate 22 sandwiched between the plates 24 and a downward extension 21 of the sheathing 20, and extended downwardly to stabilize the side wall panels 11. The lower extremity of the plate 22 is formed into a channel section 23 to reinforce the members 12, 13 and to serve as a drain channel. In way of door openings the panels 21 and 22 are cut away and additional reinforcing members (not shown), are inserted to maintain the continuity of the longitudinal reinforcement member 22.
