Abstract

641,726. Refrigerating. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. July 10, 1947, No. 18381. Convention date, March 6. [Class 29] In a refrigerating machine as described in Specifications 639,413 and 639,416, refrigerant is circulated between the evaporator 4 and a heat-exchanger 25 by a pump 24 and a cooling medium, e.g. water cooled in a coil 5 in the evaporator is circulated through heat-exchangers 42 for cooling air by a pump 39. The quantity of fluid flowing through the coil 5 is varied in accordance with the temperature in the supply pipe 41 by a thermostatically operated valve 44 which allows diversion of some of the fluid through a bye-pass 47. A byepass 48 is supplied for each exchanger 42 and includes a valve 49 which is operated in accordance with the temperature prevailing in the area being cooled. The heatexchangers may be constructed as described in Specification 641,712, [Group X], and the valves 49 may be as described in U.S.A. Reissue No. 22,685.
