641,633. Aircraft fuselages. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd. March 5, 1948, No. 6919. [Class 4] An aircraft fuselage of the '' double bubble " type has an upper lobe and a lower lobe each capable of being employed for the carriage of passengers, and lateral fairings each enclosing a compartment in the re-entrant between the lobes for the accommodation of control runs, services and the like, each fairing being provided with at least one inspection door arranged to be hinged about its lower edge and to serve, in its lowered position, as a working platform. The fuselage consists of a double-walled structure comprising pressurized upper and lower compartments 10, 11 separated by a floor 12, the upper compartment being arranged to provide a normal seating arrangement and the lower compartment to accommodate a cocktail bar. The re-entrant spaces 17 formed between the upper and lower fuselage sections contain the control runs 19 and other services 20 which are enclosed by detachable fairings 18, each provided with two or more inspection doors 21 hinged at their lower edges and arranged, when lowered, to be sustained in a substantially horizontal position by ties 23 so that they may be used as platforms for servicing the controls.
