[Class 104 (ii)] A conveyer system adapted for an assembly line employing work-holding receptacles, such as trays or small trucks 19 which are pushed or propelled along manually, comprises a series of flanged uprights 3, preferably of H-section, which fit into sockets in base members 1 and have a series of spaced apertures 11 to receive and interlock with projections on the inner ends of brackets 5 carrying parallel track bars 8, the inner and outer ends of the supporting faces of the brackets being provided with means for the ready attachment, or detachment, of the ends of aligned bars 8 forming continuous tracks. Fig. 5 shows the inner end of a downwardly inclined bracket 5 with jaws 9a, 9b defining a T-shaped slot arranged to receive the flange of an upright 3 and slide up or down thereon, and a hook 14 shaped to abut on the lower edge of a hole 11 in the flange and engage the rear face of the flange. A slot or groove 15 extending completely across the upper face of the bracket receives a downwardly extending tongue 17, Fig. 4, at the end of a track bar 8, the width of the slot being sufficient to receive the tongues of two oppositely disposed and aligned bars so that lateral stops 18 on the latter abut against the side faces of the bracket. A slot 16 similar to the slot 15 is provided at the outer ends of the brackets. In a modification the vertical supports 3 consist of flanges joined by web sections that are narrower at the top than at the bottom, so that the tracks are staggered in an inclined tier, which facilitates access to trays on the lower tracks. The tops of the vertical supports 3 may have channelled caps to receive square-sectioned metal casings for electric light or power cables connected to pin-and-socket coupling members on the ends of the casings.
