[Also in Groups XIV and XV] Boxes, filing cabinets &c. are subdivided, or shelves &c are formed, by members a having longitudinal flutes 21 into which engage elements on connecting pieces b straddling the members. The connecting pieces have flanges 25 engaging members at right angles to those they straddle. The flanges 25 may have depressions 28 engaging flutes 21, Fig. 7, or a spring tongue 30 may carry a lug 31 for this purpose. The flanges may carry portions engaging the top of a member a. The flanges may be oblique to the pieces b to support division plates in a filing cabinet. A slot 51 in the flanges (Fig. 26) may support a sloping plate 53 for papers &c. The straddling legs 23, 24 of the pieces b may have beadings 26, Figs. 7, 25, rims 29, Figs. 5, 23, 26, and/or spring tongues with spikes 37, Fig. 23, or just spikes alone, engaging in the flutes 21. Spikes 46, Fig. 23, may be bent out to engage the sides of the drawer, box, &c. One leg may have a bent up tongue 47 covered with rubber or the like 50, Fig. 25. The lower edge of some members a mav have a rubber rim to permit their sliding over projections on a box &c. bottom. Additional subdividing elements may be provided in the form of plates 55 of angle (Fig. 27) or channel form interlocking to form elements as in Fig. 30, spikes 61 engaging the container &c. sides. An element as in Fig. 30 may be formed from a single strip. Elements 62 may engage in the flutes 21, Fig. 31, to form false bottoms. A number of elements similar to 62 may be interlocked along their edges and have spikes at their ends engaging in the flutes 21.
