640,810. Hooks. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and FIRMAN, R. A. Sept. 2, 1948, No. 23152. Drawings to Specification. [Class 89 (ii) [Also in Group XXI] A releasable attachment described in Specification 572,809 has a case comprising two mating portions enclosing the upper part of load-bearing hooks, the toggle-actuated locking mechanism and the load-release device. The mating portions have inwardly directed bosses forming a journal for the hooks and drilled to receive a shearpin. Shackle links carried on the pin are connected at their upper ends, e.g., by a tension bolt so that the attachment may be suspended from a lifting gear or the like. By this arrangement the forces due to a load held by the hooks are transmitted through the bosses and shear-pin to the shackle links, the case and its contents floating on the pin.
