640,300. Mop-wringing devices. ORR, W. Nov. 22, 1947, No. 31019. [Class 19] A device for squeezing liquid from mops consists of a four-sided frame to be supported on a container such as a bucket and itself supporting a perforated chamber of cylindrical shape holding the mop head, a circular plate channelled to allow of passage of a mop handle and pin-jointed to a forked lever rigidly fixed to the centre of a spindle which rotates about an axis situated adjacent to the chamber and is supported on two opposing members of the frame, two connecting links pin-jointed at one end to each other the other end of one link being rigidly attached to an end of the spindle the other end of the second link being pin-jointed to a lever arm one end of which is hinged to a vertical fulcrum bracket attached to the frame so that when the lever arm is depressed by hand or foot the links turn the spindle and so cause the plate to squeeze water from the mop by pressing its head against the bottom of the chamber. Figs. I and II give a sectional side elevation and a plan of the handoperated device respectively and Figs. III and IV relate correspondingly to the foot or treadle operated device.
