Abstract

638,995. Driving belts. WHITTLE, O. L. March 21, 1947, No. 7777. [Class 80 (i)] A fastener, for driving belts composed of a series of overlapping strips 17 secured together, is made from one or more pieces of strip metal 14 bent to form a foot or feet 15 at one end and having a flat shank which passes through slots in the strips, the fastener being secured in position by a washer 23. As shown in Fig. 4 the fastener is made of two strips 14 each having a bent-up foot 15. The two parts are secured together back to back and have a hole 18 for receiving a pin 20 for holding the washer 23 in place. The fastener may be formed from a single strip which is folded along or transversely to the shank portion 16. The retaining washers may be slotter to engage a notch 24 on the shank and have one or more projectors 27 to grip the belt to prevent disengagement. Specification 523,337 is referred to.
