Abstract
523.337. Driving belts. WHITTLE, O. L. Dec. 31, 1938, No. 37967. [Class 80 (i)] In a driving belt constructed of superimposed' and overlapping laminations 11, which have slots: 12 at intervals, either isolated from one another or connected by slits, the laminations are secured together by studs, rivets &c. 15 the heads 16 of which are not at right-angles to the line joining the centres of the heads. In the simplest form the stud &c. comprises a shank 15 having a head 16 at each end. One end of the shank may project beyond the belt, Fig. 8, and receive a plate 22 held in place by a pin 23. The shank 15 may be round and have one of the heads riveted thereto. Opposite sides of the heads are preferably turned up as at 25, Fig. 5. Other forms of the stud &c. are also described.
