[Class 40 (ii)] In a magazine gramophone substantially the same as that fully described in Specification 617,917 in which the underside of the lowermost record of a stack revolving in the opposite direction to the turntable is played by the pick-up which then plays the upper side of the same record after release on to the turntable, the pick-up is automatically turned through 180 degrees to each of its playing positions. In one construction, the pick-up is revolvably mounted on a shaft 22, Figs. 16 and 17, in the end of the pick-up arm, and has a tongue or extension 206 which engages a slot 2071 in the end of a shaft 208 when the pick-up arm is swung clear of the record. The shaft 208 is revolved 180 degrees by means of a bevel gear 213 on a shaft 215 which is successively turned one way and the other by a link 221 coupled by a pin and slot connection to a cycling cam 71 which performs a half revolution during each automatic cycle. In an alternative construction, Fig. 26, the gearing effecting the rotation of the pick-up head 507<SP>1</SP> is contained in the forward part 301 of the pick-up arm 302. The bevel gear 307 is mounted on a sleeve 308 which is engaged by a pin 312 on a shaft 314 mounted on bearings 315, 316 affixed to the base board 2.
