Abstract
638,546. Outboard motors. PUGH, Ltd., C. H., and PUGH, J. G. June 9, 1948, No. 15504. [Class 114] In 'a boat-propelling installation of the " stern oar " type an adjustable weight 1 is slidably mounted upon the propeller shaft casing 2 so that it can be adjusted along said casing and held or secured at the most suitable point for counterbalancing variations in the thrust of the propeller. The weight may be carried in a cradle 5, or may be in the form of a sleeve fixed at the desired position on the casing by a set-screw, or may be arranged to be adjusted along the shaft casing from the interior of the boat by means of a screw device. The invention may be applied to an installation of the kind described in Specification 629,416.
