Abstract

A bituminous paint resistant to gelation on storage comprises oxidized asphaltic bitumen dissolved in a light hydrocarbon oil, e.g. burning oil, white spirit, or tractor fuel and up to 10 per cent of a monoalkyl amine, e.g. n-octadecylamine and n-octylamine. The amine may be incorporated before, during or after mixing with or without heating. Fillers may be added. The Provisional Specification describes also the use of di- and tri-ethylamines, cyclohexylamine and aniline.
