[Class 146 (iii)] [Also in Group XL (b)] In a recorder using an inking element which marks a moving tape or band, the supply of ink to the marking element is varied in conformity with the speed of the tape or band. In the arrangement shown the recording tape 1, which is driven by the recorder, passes over a pulley 2 driving through a worm 4 and worm wheel 5 a disc 7 formed with semicircular recesses 8 in which are mounted rollers 9. A tube 11 to which ink is supplied is mounted between the outer surfaces of the rollers 9 and a fixed cylindrical member 10. In the rest position of the apparatus the constricted portions of the tube between the rollers 9 and the member 10 cut off the supply of ink to the recorder. The member 10 may be a complete cylinder with slots for the passage of the tube, and the rollers 9 may be mounted on a rotatable spider. According to the Provisional Specification the rotatable member associated with the supply tube may be driven directly by the tape or by the motor which operates the recorder.
