Abstract

From fresh natural rubber latex is obtained "white latex" by adding an alkaline preserving agent, e.g. ammonia, ethylene diamine, or caustic alkali, in amount insufficient to stabilize the latex against coagulation, e.g. adding liquid ammonia to, or allowing gaseous ammonia to diffuse downwardly into, the latex to yield a concentration of 0.8-1.4 g. NH3/litre, allowing the latex to stand for one or two days without heating or agitation, and separating off the yellow coagulum which forms. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises the employment of any preserving agent. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
