Abstract

635,372. Speedometers. BRADBURY, C. H., and RUSTON & HORNSBY, Ltd. July 19, 1947, No. 19407. [Class 106 (iii)] For checking the accuracy of its readings, a tachometer is provided with a device comprising a reed 4 tuned to a frequency corresponding to a particular graduation on the tachometer dial and an eccentric 1 actuated by the driving shaft of the tachometer and adapted to be engaged by the reed. To bring the device into operation a plunger 6 is manually depressed to deflect the reed 4 downwards into contact with a fulcrum 5. In an alternative arrangement the plunger 6 acts in opposition to a tension spring 10, Fig. 3 (not shown). The free end of the reed 4 may be observed through an aperture in the dial of the instrument.
