Abstract

The assembly for measuring the pressure of a gas, notably the atmospheric pressure, comprises an oscillator (11) having a mechanical oscillatory element whose oscillation frequency is affected by the pressure of gas which surrounds it, a frequency measuring circuit which measures the oscillation frequency of the oscillating element, and a circuit which transforms the measured frequency of oscillation into a quantity corresponds to the pressure of the gas. The assembly can be used to determine the altitude on board an aircraft. The oscillating element can be a tuning fork (1) whose vibrating prongs (2) are provided with rebounding impact elements (3) which amplify the damping action of the gas on the tuning fork.
