Abstract

The tuning unit has a piezoelectric oscillator which provides a pilot frequency for an electronic circuit with several inputs corresponding to the different strings of the instrument, and which are connected via operation of the corresponding button to the element (13) at the end of the output wire (12). This element (13) comprises an electromagnetic transducer head which is held against the fret of the guitar etc. so as to bridge a selected string (104, 109) the latter vibrating at a resonant frequency when the tension of the string (104, 109) is adjusted to the required value, by turning the tuning peg (16).
