[Class 135] A check valve comprises a disc-shaped valve member 1 which controls the outlet from a convergent passage 2, and a co-axial solid buffer member 3 which is of flat shape and has a diameter several times larger than the disc so as to form with the seating surface 4 a divergent annular outlet passage 5. The buffer member has a cavity 6 to accommodate the disc when it is off its seat and the reduced inner end of this cavity may accommodate a spring.
