Abstract

634,544. Transformers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and WOOLTORTON, E. Jan. 23, 1948, No. 2140. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] An electrical unit apparatus comprises an electrical component, e.g. a transformer in a container with a filling of oil or like material and having at least one insulator hermetically sealed to and projecting substantially wholly within the, container. In Fig. 1 apertures 12, 13 extend from the interior to the exterior of the container 1 through the insulators 6, 7 and carry electrical connections 14, 15 which are joined to the component 2 and are hermetically sealed to the insulators 6, 7 within the container at 20, 21. The insulators may be ceramic bushes silvered at the ends to enable seals to be made by soldering at 8, 9, 20, 21. Fig. 3 shows an embodiment having only one insulator.
