Abstract
346,604. Transformers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. May 29, 1930, No. 16666. Convention date, Dec. 19, 1929. [Class 38 (ii).] An electric terminal 1 surrounded by a liquid insulating medium, the filling being separated from the oil &c. contents of the apparatus to which it is applied, has a casing made of ceramic material 3 outside, and of fibrous material 6 inside the container 5. The casing 6 which may have a coating of oil-proof lac may be clamped by a flange between a metal flange 4 and the container 5 as shown, or connected to the inner surface of the flange 4 only, or to an intermediate ring of metal only or connected to the inner edge of an intermediate ring together with the flange 4, the whole being supported on the container 5 by the outer edge of the ring. In any case, where the edge of the flange of the fibrous casing lies outside the container it is protected against the action of the air by a coating of cement &c. For protection during transport of the complete filled terminal the fibrous part may be covered with an oil-proof cap, for example of metal, filled with oil or a neutral gas.
