Abstract
634,363. Electromagnetic switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 8, 1945, No. 5799. Convention date, March 10, 1944. [Class 38 (v)] In a contactor rotation of an armature 13 about a pivot 18 first brings a copper arcing contact 11 into engagement with a co-operating copper contact 16 after which a member 10 carrying the contact 11 pivots about the point of engagement of the contacts so that a silver main " contact 12 is brought into engagement with a co-operating " main " contact 17. This latter action serves to compress a biassing spring 23. The member 10 is loosely pivoted to the armature by means of a pin 20, the ends of which engage slots 21 in the two side arms of a bracket 22 fixed to the armature. When the armature 13 is released the reverse action takes place. A blow-out coil 30 may be automatically inserted in circuit when the contacts 12, 17 open so as to blow out the are between the contacts 11, 16.
