Abstract

634,351. Gas washers. COOPER C., HENSHAW, D. M., and HOLMES & CO., Ltd., W. C. Oct. 7, 1947, No. 26909. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] Gas is introduced through an inlet 24 and passes through a number of compartments 32 in succession, leaving through an outlet 25. Brushes 37, which are supported by members 36, are accessible through openings 34 provided with cover plates 35. Two pump units (only one of which is shown) each comprising a number of separate centrifugal pumps mounted on a common shaft and driven by a motor 17 deliver liquid by the way of pipes 44 to spray tubes 45 at the top of the compartments 32. Each compartment in provided with a liquor outlet (not shown). In addition, liquor can be drained from chambers 38 into a trough 42. An overflow outlet 49 is provided. A sealing chamber between the uppermost pump and the motor 17 is filled with liquid which can be replenished by way of an inlet 52.
