Abstract

595,511. Centrifugal &c. fans &c. PATO, A. R. May 17, 1945, No. 12456. [Classes 110 (i) and 122 (v)] A rotary pump, comprising a pump casing 9, having a removable cover 10, encloses a rotor 13 having a plurality of radial blades 15, an annular recess 16 being provided in the 'end wall of the pump casing with a partition 22 extending across it to isolate the inlet 23<1> from the outlet 241. The pump cover 10 has a recess 20 forming a chamber with the adjacent face of the rotor and the end wall of the casing 9 has a recess 18 which, with a recess 17 in the rotor, forms a second chamber in open communication with the first chamber through passages 19 in the rotar 13, the arrangement being such that liquid escaping between the rotor 13 and the casing 9 will accumulate in the said chambers to constitute a hydraulic seal between the rotor and casing.
