Abstract
634,003. Overload control of motors. PETRIE & McNAUGHT, Ltd., and DAWSON, H. March 1, 1948, No. 6409. [Class 38 (iii)] A sensitive overload control for an electrically driven baling press comprises an actuating coil which is short-circuited during the starting operation for a timed period in which the normal overload release is effective. Fig. 3 shows a contactor k adapted to short-circuit the coil r of a sensitive load responsive relay. This contactor is energized through an electromagnetic time-switch m<SP>1</SP> when a main switchfuse j is closed. On closing a starting switch n by means of a push-button p the coil m is also energized and after a time interval, during which a star-delta switch may be operated, the switch m<SP>1</SP> is opened so that the coil r becomes effective to open the circuit of the closing coil n if the material in the press should cause excess loading. The normal overload coils n<SP>1</SP> also control the coil n. According to the Provisional Specification the normal overload coil may be short-circuited when the sensitive control comes into operation.
