Abstract

A rubber-like composition comprises a resin containing from 70 to 100 per cent vinyl chloride, a plasticizer other than di-isobutyl adipate, and a plasticizer sealant consisting of either a chlorinated aliphatic paraffin having more than fifteen carbon atoms and from 20 to 68 per cent chlorine, or a chlorinated aryl hydrocarbon having two or more benzene rings each united by two common carbon atoms and containing 26 to 63 per cent chlorine, the weight of plasticizer being greater than that of the sealant, but insufficient alone to plasticize the resin to the same extent as the combination of plasticizer and sealant. A vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate resin and chlorinated naphthalene and chlorinated anthracene are specified. As plasticizers ethoxy-ethyl adipate, dibutyl sebacate, or dibutyl phthalate may be used. Paraffin wax and castor oil may be added. Dipping solutions may be made by adding acetone and cyclohexanone. Dyes, fillers and stabilizers may be added. Gloves and fountain pen vacs may be so made.
