Abstract
An elastomer is blended with a polyvinyl resin by compounding the resin in the form of a plastisol with an elastomer and curing the mixture. The plastisol may contain polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, a plasticiser such as dioctyl phthalate, dihexyl sebacate, diheptyl adipate and tricresyl phosphate, and a stabilizer such as lead chloride, sulphate, nitrate and carbonate. The elastomer may be neoprene, a butadieneacrylonitrile copolymer or natural rubber. Other ingredients which may be incorporated are stearic acid, magnesium oxide, phenylalpha-naphthylamine, zinc oxide, clay, sulphur, benzothiazyl disulphide, pine tar, polymerized trimethyl dihydroquinoline and carbon black. The mixture may be extruded before curing.ALSO:Natural rubber is blended with a polyvinyl resin by compounding the resin in the form of a plastical with the rubber and curing the mixture. The plastisol may contain polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, a plasticizer such as dioctyl phthalate, dihexyl sebacate, diheptyl adipate and tricresyl phosphate, and a stabilizer such as lead chloride, sulphate, nitrate and carbonate. In an example, other ingredients present are pine tar, stearic acid, polymerized trimethyl dihydroquinoline, zinc oxide, carbon black, sulphur and benzothiazyl disulphide. The mixture may be extruded before curing.
