Abstract
Compositions comprise (1) 100 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride-containing resin at least 50% by weight of which is vinyl chloride, (2) 10 to 100 parts by weight of a plasticizer for the resin, (3) 20 to 300 parts by weight of iron-containing asbestos and (4) 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of dicyandiamide. The resin may be polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer. Specified plasticizers are dioctyl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, glycol dibenzoate, dibutyl sebacate, dioctyl sebacate and epoxidized soya bean oil. The compositions may also contain pigments and fillers, e.g. titanium dioxide, talc and calcium carbonate, and may be formed into floor tiles. Examples describe compositions comprising (3) polyvinyl chloride and (3) and (4) vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymers together with dioctyl phthalate, asbestos, dicyandiamide, titanium dioxide and calcium carbonate.
