Abstract

1338396 Polymer compositions COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 21 May 1971 [12 June 1970] 28606/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division A6] A synthetic pitch or field for ball games is made from a composition containing 25-75% plasticized PVC, 5-20% finely divided fibrous material, 3-20% natural or synthetic rubber and 20-40% of a-finely divided filler. The PVC is a homopolymer or contains up to 30% of comonomer, e.g. vinyl acetate and in examples is plasticized with phthalate, adipate or polyester plasticizers. The fibre is preferably an organic fibre and may be added as shredded conveyer belt; some asbestos may also be present. Nitrile or styrene-butadiene rubbers are used in the examples with china clay, whiting or chalk filler and optionally titania, calcium stearate, green pigment and chlorinated paraffin extender.
