Abstract
633,345. Scaffolding. MOLES, A. Aug. 28, 1946, No. 25845. Convention date, Dec. 29, 1942. [Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Scaffolding is erected by assembling standard rafters 1, 2 Fig. 1, of wood or metal using junction devices each comprising a rear plate 3 and one or more locking plates 4 secured to the rear plate by bolts 5 releasable without removing the nuts 5a. As shown in Fig. 3, for joining two rafters at right-angles, a central plate 16 is formed with slotted lugs 17, 18 to receive the heads of bolts 5, 51 extending in opposite directions to engage locking plates 19, 20 respectively. Claws 10 and holes 9 which receive securing pins secure the rafters against displacement. The plate 16 may be made in two pieces pivotally connected to permit the joining of the rafters in any angular relationship. The rafters may be assembled in parallel and side by side relationship to form various composite cross-sections. Thus in Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) the junction devices assemble the rafters to form composite uprights having a comer and T-section respectively. The rafters may be metal units, e.g. tubes of square cross-section, angle irons, channel or I-shaped rims.
